Gary/Chicago International has the longest runway of the Chicago-area business-aviation airports on this site: 8,859 feet. It's also the natural choice for the South Side, the south suburbs, and Northwest Indiana. The airport describes itself as "close to Chicago yet away from the congestion of larger airports." That's especially useful for heavy, long-range jets and for international arrivals, because U.S. Customs inspections are normally available seven days a week. One advisor handles the aircraft, the customs timing, and the details.

Heavy jets and long nonstops. The airport calls its nearly 9,000-foot primary runway "equipped to accommodate aircraft of all sizes." The FAA rates its pavement at 75,000 lb single-wheel, 157,000 lb double-wheel, and 250,000 lb dual double-tandem. When a long-range trip needs every foot of runway, GYY is often the answer.
International arrivals any day of the week. PWK, DPA, and UGN keep weekday core customs hours, with off-hours service by arrangement. By contrast, CBP lists Gary/Chicago inspections as normally available every day, 9 a.m.–10 p.m. Central, subject to staffing and advance permission to land.
What that means in practice (advisor guidance, not a published spec): GYY suits every class of private jet we arrange, from light jets to the largest long-range business jets. Runway length is rarely the limit here. The operator still confirms performance for each trip.
The airport lists two FBOs. Your operator usually chooses, and we can request a preference.
The airport also hosts a specialized aviation services operator (Sage Popovich) for maintenance and technical services.
We secure the landing rights with the operator and keep the ETA inside CBP's window.
Control tower: 6:00 a.m.–11:00 p.m. local, per the FAA. (One FBO's website shows different tower hours. We follow the FAA record.)
Every charter is quoted for the specific trip: aircraft, routing, dates, and any airport or customs fees. Request a quote or call (847) 902-9004 and your advisor will build one for you.
